The 2011 Time Trial Season

Well, after saying I wouldn't even think about riding any events until May at the earliest I've let myself down and entered the Yorkshire Cycling Federation '10' on Feb 27th. The saving grace of this is that I've entered the 72" gear section so it can be considered to be a timed training ride rather than a full-blown 'race'. If the weather is OK I'll try and ride out as well as it's not to far away - and I won't have to turn the back wheel round for a higher gear so no dirty fingers!

I'll be checking the weather forecasts very avidly in the days before though.

Predates the British one by many a year. Don't let any of their hardened time trialling members hear you ask that

I'll be on the black Carlton track bike - but probably not trying TOO hard. After all, it's very early doors yet!

Although I only finished riding cross on the 6th, the TT season kicks off for me this Sunday morning with the first club event not too far from my house. First competitive outing for my "new" steel steed so will have to see how it gets on against more modern machinery and the specialist TT bikes!

Erm, I haven't said it was have I? It's a very old organisation, like I say, predating BCF by many a year. Definitely pre-war I believe.

Nope, 'cause I mis-read the post and thought it said "pre-dates the British one by a year" i.e. 1958. My mistake!

Saves all the hassle of club politics etc. etc.

And you can ride an old bike all the time!

so which clubs are you in fellas?

Sotonia CC for me - probably the biggest and most active club in this neck of the woods. You can just about make out the club strip in my avatar although we had it re-designed last year so that version's out of date now (good excuse to buy a new jersey in a couple of weeks and get my folks to pay for it as a birthday present ).
