Tequesta questions

Retro Newbie
Hi all. Need some advice on my GT tequesta please.
Firstly how can I date it? I think it's '95 or '94, orange in colour with a mix of LX, acera and avids.
Need to know if I can get suitable sus' forks for it still or am I hunting 2nd hand only? I believe fork length is 395, not sure of steerer.
Also, can anyone confirm diameter for front mech and seat post.
Never got involved with the mechanical/technical side of my bike, I just hacked around on it! Would be nice to spruce it up a bit and keep going, can't really see myself replacing her with modern aluminium bike, she's too pretty and has been with me a while even tho' I've neglected and mistreated her in the past.
Thanks in advance for replies.

Waiting for that. My only net connection is this phone. (Not an iphone or anything flash).
I live on a narrowboat so not a lot of technology on board, tried dongle but not impressed. Living in a steel tube doesn't help!
Have seen same bike on here a while ago but can't manage linkys. Sorry.

Sounds like a '99 to me. Does it have a sticker on the down tube near the bottom bracket that says 'Reynolds 525 Chromoly'? If it does the front mech will be a 31.8mm and seat post 29.6mm. Assuming the frame is an 18" (centre to centre, 100mm head tube length) a fork with a 1 1/8" steerer around 180mm in length is what you should be looking out for. Rigid forks on the '99 were about 425mm, have you measured yours? Again if it is a '99 the optional sus fork would have been 63mm Rockshox (approx. 440mm) but upto 85mm (approx. 460mm) works well as they will sag a bit.

Did measure the forks at 395, will have to check. Does have the 525 sticker and did have judys on it when bought new as an previous years stock bike. It's a 20inch frame, I'll reameasure the forks tomoz. Did think I had it longer but my memory is terrible, to much indulgence in the way.
Did start looking on the suggested thread. Slow going on mobile phond but will try again.
Thanks.

I'm sure its a '99 model year if its orange and made from 525, so the numbers I gave you should be good with the exception of the steerer length as you have a 20" frame. I assume you mean 20" centre to centre as thats how GT measure them and most other people measure centre to top. There should be another sticker right under the Reynolds one that tells you the frame size centre to centre. The 18" has a head tube length of 100mm so just measure yours and add the difference to the 180mm steerer lenght I gave in my previous post. Best way really though is to measure your old fork as spacers, stem heights and headset stack heights will all make a difference and I'm just going on my setup.

If that 395mm fork was fitted at a later date it's most likely to short. As I said before the standard length for rigid forks on that bike in '99 was around 425mm.

Quick check on the way out this morning and I guess I was expecting them to be 395 and not the actual size of 425 as I thought the bike older. (130 head tube)
Many thanks for your help James.
