Tell me about: Columbus Genius Nivacrom tubing

I had a genius tubed Coppi road bike. Amazingly lively ride. I would imagine an mtb made of genius tubing would be a blast.

I picked up an MTB made of Columbus MAXOR Nivacrom; it's fillet brazed, and pretty light stuff...but looks fragile. Perhaps it's not.

MAX OR is not a light frameset.. well not heavy but not the lightweights. Mid/late 90 Kona Explosifs are made of the stuff and you'll find top end road bikes with it as well (not the OR just MAX). from later 80 onwards.

If it's lugged it much heavier. Fillet, be interesting to see that. Directionally stiff.

Genius was a evolutionary tubeset, the first to bring the butting process to its extremes. In 1995 it was the lightest set available. So,top of the line. Extreme top of the line. The following years saw the advent of Nemo, then Foco, and Superfoco.

was that the Santana on CL?

I have a Serotta T-Max and it does dent easily.

That's the one- a bright orange Santana Moda :)
but it does feel fragile, thanks for the confirmation :(

Hmmm, feels light on my hand scale (my hand used as a scale), but now I have to weigh it. I'll weight the frame/fork/headset (Santana Moda with matching fork, both fillet brazed, and a xtr m900 headset (1"). I'll report back :)

Mines 4.6lb (4lb 10oz) 20" 1997 Kona Explosif (not fillet brazed, I would expect fillets to weigh more as more material there)

So not a light weight, but certainly not heavy.
Can you pinch your tubes, say middle of the top tube and feel it moving ?
