Tech Support?

It’s not a membrane as such @novocaine more like tiny individual rubber nipples under the center of each key... I sat at the dining table with the key not working, removed it with surgical tweezers, pressed the nipple with the tweezers and it worked, removed the old hinge, replaced it, clicked the new key into place and it’s worked ever since.. it was really clean under there.. any debris would have been visible between the point it didn’t work and the point that it did..

I can shake it for nowt tho so I’ll give it a whirl.
 
I’ll have a look when I get home, it’s my home mac.. I use windows at work, of which I’ve had 3 since 2012 :)

I know. the pad under the key acts as a membrane, it only needs a small bit of smut to stop it making contact.
as you say, cost's nothing to do it. :) I'd be tempted to give it a blast of air, you never know.
