Devout Dirtbag
To be fair to the auction house they haven’t said it’s a Team Fat Chance.
That fade looks extremely well done. From a distance the paint looks good though.
Having had the real things in the past...Probably one of two reasons, either to scam someone or just because they wanted the real thing but couldn't get one. I like to think it's the latter.
It reminds me of this lad I used to know who was into kit cars, he'd buy old Toyota's and put Ferrari body kits on them, they even had false engine covers in the back and faux buckskin upholstery inside, he didn't do it in the hopes of fooling someone into paying Ferrari money for an MR2 though, he did it because he loved Ferraris and knew he was probably never going to be able to afford the real thing.
Personally I don't get it either, it's like wearing an imitation Rolex or fake designer clothes, I would know and so I wouldn't enjoy these items, the thought that some people might mistake them for the real thing doesn't appeal either, if a person said nice watch or nice car when It was fake I'd feel like a fraud and a liar, but people who do it for those kinds of reasons alone aren't really hurting anyone, those who do it with the express intention of fooling people into paying more than the item is worth are no better than thieves in my eyes.
I'm one of those people who fully accepts that Lamborghinis and Bugatti's (and Cunninghams and Kleins) are completely out of reach, and that's totally fine, I'm a blue collar man and I like my blue collar life and as much as I appreciate quality craftmanship and beautiful design there are plenty of things that tick those boxes and are available for me to own, appreciate and enjoy, like great old blue collar bikes.
Bought a Tudor Pelagos LHD for myself this year, pretty happy with it, it won’t gain value like a Rolex but I can’t afford a Rolex so this will do.Having had the real things in the past...
Porsche 911 tbf 993 air cooled and overengineered.. to be appreciated..
Lamborghini gallardo clutch kept burning out after EVERY 5000 miles.. hated it. Had same v10 5 litre engine as audi s6.. audi was detuned but drove better..
Rolexes lose 5-10 mins on average per month... that's not mechanical excellence.. bag of shite. One piece titanium army watch I got from marines by citizen powered by solar is impeccable.. 2-3 secs per year. I have 350 watches..
Best watches seiko IMHO.. springdrive is a mechanical movt.. made by artisans..10 people qualified to so in the world.. loses up to 15-30 secs per year.. £15 k.. but it's a seiko I hear you say..
I was born blue collar.. Still blue collar.. same with the bikes..
I prefer the understated look of the tudors tbh.. Still made by rolex. Not many people know, its nice when people don't know..Bought a Tudor Pelagos LHD for myself this year, pretty happy with it, it won’t gain value like a Rolex but I can’t afford a Rolex so this will do
No idea on the loss of time etc, I hardly wear it am a welder it wouldn’t last long at work lolI prefer the understated look of the tudors tbh.. Still made by rolex. Not many people know, its nice when people don't know..
Like having a sleeper car or a rat bike.. if you need to... you can surprise them
How many seconds is it losing per month? or minutes.? Just for my own inquisitiveness and maybe getting one in the future..
