Tandem Identification (Vintage, possibly 40's?)

Afternoon all.

I need help identifying a tandem bike my dad acquired a few years back. I get the feeling its from around the 70's era due to it having drum brakes and the way the frame has been made. It has been restored at some time as the frame is looking quite fresh and the paint isn't to a manufacturers standard so because of this there are no markings, stamps or numbers to help identify it.

Any help or info will be greatly appreciated.

Might have 70s parts on it, but that clip-style headset (and those angles) is saying 40s to me.

I knew it wouldn't of been any newer than 70's but not that old. I'd love to find out the exact make, model and date of the frame.

Just found some markings on the bike -

- top of head tube above badge - 12509

- bottom of frame just near rear b/b - 3

- back of fork crown - 12508.


Does anyone recognise these kind of markings or what makers do it in there places?

I can't identify the maker, but it might even be pre-war. Compare this very similar 1935 Dawes:

I was going to say parts on the bike do look pre war to me.
