From experience in the same size, you'll always be able to find a nice replacement Thomson but a nice Syncros in 30.0 seems a rarer beast.
Have both on different Raleigh's but my favourite is a silver Thomson which I was chuffed to find at a reasonable price.
I've also got a nice Kona post (bit later) in 30.0.
