syncros rev cranks compatible with shimano/odd else fixing bolts?

Hi all,

Newbie query here:

I'm doing a build using a set of syncros revs that I lucked upon a few years back. I need some crank bolts, but don't want to break the bank/be in limbo for a half century.

Sure, I'd love to snag a set of decent crank-o-matics (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1648309051...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557), but I just can't justify spending that much (or waiting that long) if I can use something less expensive (and immediately available) that works (like these for instance?: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/274584301230).

I'd like to find something that does justice to the syncros cranks, but doesn't cost me an arm/leg/eternity.

I'm newish to maintenance and just wondering if the syncros revs are compatible with something other than the elusive/pricey crank-o-matics? As long as the crank bolts are for tapered cranks, should be ok? A crank bolt is a crank bolt?

Newbie thanks,

AGH

Correct, a crank bolt is a crank bolt. I believe the spider bolts are a different story however.

If you buy lightweight aluminium bolts, pull the crank onto the taper with some steel bolts first, then secure the crank with the fancy bolts. If you try pull the crank on with alloy bolts you’ll risk stripping them.

Great advice! Thanks Hotwheels.
