Syncros Powerlite restoration advice

"a dip tank.

if anyone knows of a place around Toronto...."

There was a Restraunt I worked at off Bloor St. Some of their vats could probably strip anything off anything.

I thought it was more @ Carlton/College near Church/Jarvis??? :p

But yeah, way off topic!

Anyone have any experience taking off the plug caps off the top of the fork legs without damaging them?

Forgot all about the Hookers....Girls around there. Saw some really scary things now that I remember it, but then saw alot of scary things in Soho to.

Back on topic...I am in need of a top cap if anyone has one going spare?

is there one to extend threaded steerer and retain threading?

Yeah but not with those lame extenders.....go see a good framebuilder, they'll cut it off below the threads, fit a butted extended steerer section, rosette weld it in and cut new threads on the top....the new section will be as strong, if not stronger than the original length ;)

test placed a set of forks on just to see how it looks. i like what i see.

now to sort out the legs and steerer issues.

these must be notorious for rust.

i purchased one of these forks off a bloke. paid something like 200 US with shipping across the pond.

looked sweet in the snaps. but, when they arrived eneded up they were swiss cheese under the bondo and rattle can paint job.

chocked it up to experience and swore them off unless i can inspect them in hand.

Not to sure on this.... but Syncros made some Aluminum one's that fitted in to the MAG steerers, of course doesn't mean these will fit in the, (~25.6mm diameter iirc for Mags)

unfortunately I don't know much about the Powerlite and Syncros forks in general.

so no one has any tips on how to take off the fork leg top caps safely?

Have you posted this question on the MTBR retro forum? There may be some people there with the intel you need.
