How will the steerer work in your new crowns? An opportunity to dump the "interference press fit" of the original (which may not be a bad thing, as I still can't find a single framebuilder or cycle "expert" over here in the UK that can manage to press out a steerer, and then press in a new one, without completing fecking it up) - everyone, apart from one, has declined to even go near it!
I've tried Splitty on here a couple of years ago, but I simply received a box of bits back and the brand new custom steerer, that had been made for me by Chas Roberts' chief framebuilder - Winston, crumpled and squished into unusable crap, and I was back where I started, having lost a fair chunk of money on the utter incompetence.

Line things up in a hydraulic press. Heat the crown. Cool the steerer. Press. Beyond that, it beats me. But it certainly isn't a job for the uninitiated.
I asked my friend. His shop is swamped with work but if you can wait until March, he might be able to build one at that point.
