Swiss Titan

Picked up this Titan a few months ago, but only now getting round to cleaning it up. Almost done, but havn't removed the cassette (it's Uniglide, not Hyperglide) - is this just two chain whips?

Frame is painted at the front (white) with cromovelato (blue) at the rear. The chromed rear stays are in poor condition - the chrome is lifting in flakes - is there anything that can be done for this?

Apart from that, it's a lovely bike - nice cable ports on the top tube, balanced handling and quite light for a low-end bike. It still has the original Vredestein tyres, which are too cracked to save, and the original seat was ruined.

I understand that these were Italian built with 'Swiss finish' as the pantographing on the stem says! Does anyone know anything more about them - there isn't much on the net about them.

I just picked up a Titan Exclusiv - probably a lower end bike than yours (although well specc'd the tubing is Orla Hi Ten so not super light weight).

The fact your thread has gone 3 years with no comment suggests that not much is known about them (in the UK at least). I've managed to find this forum post which is quite informative:

Italian made frames for a Swiss company, sold mainly on the continent - which is why I guess there are not many in the UK. Mine came from Radsport Ruster - a bike shop in Germany.

Thanks for the link. I sold that bike last year, but only because it didn't have mudguard eyelets. Would have made a good commuter. I would buy another Titan if I saw one.
