Swift Tire Ripp Johnson good on trails?

Hey! I have found these tires for a really fair price, much cheaper than the smoke/ darts except they have a center ridge. most of my riding on my vintage bike is extremely dry and dusty, loose over hard/loose/loose 1-5" cobbles. would this tire be suitable for those things or do I suck it up and buy the smoke/darts? they are replacing a set of (previously) NOS specialized ground control blackwalls that pretty much look like the image below except not skinwall or ummagumma. I am looking for about the same level of grip.

Not the best promotional photo for a product I've seen. Very difficult to tell what the tread pattern looks like...might just be me
