** Surly Karate Monkey **

That’s a shame. I’ve had great success using oven pride to strip anodising. Submerge it in a container, check it every few minutes until it’s stripped, then rinse and polish.

Yeah it is but not to worry, took the Dremel to the locking and it's now silver.

Had a too-short XTR 12 speed chain in my parts box so have used that with a SRAM link and it seems bang-on!

Maiden voyage completed!

50mm stem just feels too short, I had it so I tried it but think 70mm suits me more. To be honest I think if I could have the top tube length of an XL frame with the seat tube of a large it would be bang-on.

Bar and grip angle are critical to getting comfortable but took Allen keys with me to sort that, and I’ve adjusted the nose of the saddle up more than anticipated…. a quirk of Brooks saddles perhaps?

Gearing feels good, but missing the oval ring…. maybe should have bought a spider for the cranks instead 😕

The smooth and silent transmission is just wonderful though! 😎

And the brakes…. an abundance of effortless power, best brakes I’ve ever had, they’ve been like that straight out the box and even with me cutting the hoses too!

A lot of back sweep in those bars, no wonder you needed a longer stem. Think I’d to use 100mm length when I used Jones bars.
Saddle angle could well be a Brooks thing. I have a couple of Cambiums and always have to set them more upward than looks right.

Bike looking good, hopefully lasts longer than it’s predecessor.
