Suntour XC Pro vs. XC Comp-crankset differences?

Comps in MD format (guess at impression forged by SR Suntour) are heavier by quite a bit iirc than Pro's in MD format (cold forged by Sugino).
Rings are the same but Pros are hard anodised (mid+top)

Not sure on the 1990 one's it just say Hi-duty forged ?
Would need to be made by Sugino to be cold forged iirc as Suntour didn't have the capabilities hence the above in the MD format.

I'm sorry, what do you mean by MD format? I'll have to weigh them, I'm curious about it. Also, I was just looking at pictures of the Fisher they came from, it looks like a symmetrical bottom bracket, but fairly long-likely the 127mm you mentioned previously.

Micro Drive (42/32/22 rings). Similar to Shimano's Hyperdrive C. IIrc Suntour came out with theirs first and Shimano brought out their version later.

The weight should be similar, with one being stronger at that same weight than the other due to the manufacturing process. Interested to see what weights you come back with.

Hey! I have a message!

Drive side weighs 290 grams, non-drive is 200.

I'm leaning toward them being XC Comp, for no reason other than if they were Pro's I likely would not have casually removed the decal. They weren't heavily polished (before), either.

They are XC Pro so stop thinking they are not. I can explain some major difference..
XC Comp do not have XCP stamped on the back, they are also not smooth at the back but have a damn large recessed ridge and look 'ugly' from the back. To name obvious ones.

The weight puts them ~10g lighter than M900 XTR, which sound good in theory, but the increase in bottom bracket length unfortunately has a (using UN72 as example ) 15 to 20g penalty.

OK, thanks-I was not aware the physical differences were that significant.

took a while of searching but (from here on retrobike)
