Suntour XC Pro Thumbies

I just inherted a set of these. Seems really well constructed and have a really nice soft click to them, compared to the XT's more sure sounding clicks.

I've never used them, just wanted to hear what people think of them and how they compared to XT's.

thanks,

Got an xc pro set up to a mavic rear mech on my city mtb, shifty smooth and neat. Nice tidy design. There seem to be less of them about as well, which is kinda good I think.

Use them on my commuter. Shift very fine (icw new Deore rearmech).
Clicks fine and shifts very smooth for a thumb.

Sleeker and not as clunky looking as the Shimano thumbies (if they could be called clunky... well, you know what I mean).
:D

Martin references Suntour thumbies with Deore above and clicks. Does that mean they are SIS compatible too?

To date I have assumed they weren't, but now I can't say why that is.

Yep, they do work on Shimano gears!

Cool, that means I can use my set with the Explosif instead of the more bulky DX thumbies fitted. I still learn something here every day.

Thanks!

my mate has been using his xc pro thumbies for tha last 14 years non stop, with various mechs, sachs plasma, 8 speed lx, 9 speed xt. etc... theyve been on all sorts of bikes, numerous kona rigid frames, on-one inbred, santacruz superlight. he swears by them(and has a nos pair in his tool box, just incase they give up the ghost). the best thing is they marry up quite well mith modern disc brake levers too, as the modern paul/dura-ace equivalent on my bike dont
