I have zero experience of Suntour produts - always saw them as the MTB equivalent of Beta-Max BITD

So this week I managed to get a set of NOS XC-Pro brake levers and when I received them I've got to say I was pretty bloody impressed.....

So the thumbshifters, are they equal to M732 XT's ? do they have the hidden 8th Click? Are they compatible with a shimano drive train? i.e. rear and front mechs, etc. ????

Cheers for any help

Steve,
XC Pro thumbies are the mutts, better than shimano IMO.

Been looking for a set for a while now, and yes they do have the eighth click ;)

Not sure how the rest of the goupset compares to the big S though.

They look nicer finished than XTs.

I use them on my 8s XTR Yo - no problem
I use them on my 7s XT Panasonic - flawless

Fantastic, cheers people,

Looks like I'll be getting a set now, even if it's just to compare/contrast ;)

My RC100 has Suntour XC Pro mechs, shifters, cassette, hubs and seatpost and they are rather lovely. I've also had XC Pro brakes on a few bikes and again very nice. Makes a nice change from Shimano. The thumbies have a rather high quality feel to them in particular.

Towards the end Suntour actually made 8speed thummies.

I'm running 7speed XCPro using a later 8speed hub and cassette with the 11 ring sliced off (on a lathe).

Gives super strong low dish wheel and loseing the 11 speed cog gives crisper shifting.

Much nicer than the XT/XTR of the era IMO. ;)

I have a XC Pro on the DOGS BOLX and I've alway found the shifting at the rear rather ordinary. Everything else works great though.

The seatposts are an underrated classic. Get them (relatively) cheap while you still can.

Their excellent, Im using thumbshifters on my Explosif which has XT mechs (8 speed).
Suntour kit is brilliant, the wheel hubs and mechs especially.
As a matter of fact Im going to start a project just so that I
can have a bike equipt with a full Suntour group set.
Well made and what a finnish
