suntour ag 38t freewheel? can I mod a deerhead rear derry to handle this

Over at MTBR we run into this using a larger cassette.
Clearance sucks and there isn’t enough b screw to push the derailleur back.
A lot of times a Goatlink is the answer. It extends the derailleur down and back.
While not listed for your application, its worth a look.

can confirm the above extenders are really nice and the chap who runs RaceTi posts fast. These short extenders are a better option than just winding the B screw in. Not an issue for the OP but i have found, with a couple of indexed Sram Exact Actuation mechs, that using a short extender and winding the B screw out can result in better shifting with mullet setups. It all depends on if it is 1x or 2x, smallest and largest cogs and how much chain needs taking up, but these little do-da's are another way of tuning shifting.

Only ask as the capacity of the original superplate is better due to the floating top jocky. It will cope with 38t rear, but may not like the action of dropping piviot as the pivot and top jockey are geared together with a cable.

The standard version will do 36 at a push, but will be easier to drop mount.
