Not everybody is a collector; most people like a bike for what it is and don't just wank over it matching the original picture in the brochure from 1998.

Oh wow you're such a legend for using profanity, typical keyboard warrior extraordinaire.

Fact is that no one will buy it for the price being asked, if it was original spec then maybe someone would even with the weld but lets be honest with its current state of the market, mismatched parts and the wrong colour its never going to fetch whats being asked for it, but if you feeling so strongly about it then why don't you buy it ???

The bike industry is in the pits the retro market has also dropped considerably the best bet would be to put it on ebay, you'll get more reach than just a few facebook pages and forums and the final auction price will be what the bike is worth to someone out there

I’ve checked and the OP didn’t ask for price guidance.

You’ve made your point about the modification, it’s now the choice of any potential buyer to balance any benefit of it for a bike to be ridden against it not being of showroom standard for a garage queen.

There’s really nothing more for you to add so either appreciate it for what it is, a well built bike of its era, or move along to the next post. The OP is trying to sell his bike and retro-bike pricing is always totally subjective.
