So I have a Trike with Sturmey Archer rear 5sp X-RF5 and a front hub brake X-FD

I see SunRace now own the company.

I think these will date to late 00's/early 10's

Question is, does anyone know anything about them?

They have a thumbshifter for the rear gears and a brake lever from the front.
Are these a standard Shimano pattern? Any other levers or shifter (twist or trigger?)

Re:

You can get a range of 5 speed shifters for the hub gear: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_osac ... p;_sacat=0

As for the hub brake lever, if you measure the distance between the pivot and the cable nipple and compare it to a V-brake and/or a cantilever brake lever that should give you an idea of which would suit it better.

Re:

Measuring is my next job, was just hoping there are some integral hub users.

The shifters are a bit more complicated than a search (been doing research for the past week)
The current one is there for a messily £7.

The complication is there is a normal version a wide version and I think some new versions :-S.
All use different shifter pulls.

I'm looking at the triggers as I think he can use them better.

Anyone serviced the front brake hub?

It's from around 2011/2012 model.

Re:

What is it anyway, I see the pedal plates, is it for someone that has difficulty with their legs, or possibly balance?

You can get sturmey levers and twist grips

The brake levers are canti levers

Not sure if the gears are shimano compatible

But any bike shop that has an account with The Cycle Division (Huddersfield) can get you the genuine parts

The brakes aren’t really serviceable, you just fit new brake units to them, dead easy for a man of your calibre

Re:

Cerebral Palsy, so a supported and slightly stange bar and seat layout.

Canti sounds good, M900 it is then ;-)
Likely a pair of adjustable Acids as they are easy and comfortable.

Are you still riding bikes Andy?

I'd better leave the hub brake alone, then :)
It is actually working very well.

Expect to see a screeming 10 year old on a tag along trike going around a few red routes, muHAHAHA.
