Stumpy Rebuild before and after

Hi all
Following on from last nights conversations here's a before and after of the Stumpy.

As discussed I went for just giving it a clean, changing the tyres, turning round the seatpin and putting on correct width black bars.

Spec now is - 1991 Stumpy Team frame, fork, stem, XC Pro chainset and front mech, Mavic 217's on STX RC hubs, WTB Moto Raptor 2.14s, period XT rear mech, Grip Shift X Ray 3x8 shifters, Shimano Servo Wave V-Brakes, CT seat pin with later Specialized BG saddle, Halfords Bikehut bars (surprisingly light....) Profile bar ends, egg beaters.

May still get into a proper original rebuild if I can get the right wheelset as a starter.

I think that the rebuild has restored the bike's proportions and now the hugely long stem doesn't look so out of proportion.

Went for a quick spin in the dark earlier, fast and light. Tomorrow's job is a proper thrash ... !

Cheers
Simon

Have had warped thoughts about getting it re-laquered as it is though to preserve the patina because I love it the way it is but don't want it to get any worse, does that make me a bad person ?? It's carried me through sunny Sunday rides in my twenties, towed my kids, done triathlons and taken me to the station so I don't want to strip and paint it...... Other way I suppose is a regular polish with GT85 or WD40 ?

Cheers
Simon
