O and another thing, I have been offered a lovely "Stumpjumper" Is it worth me toshing it up, or better to flog it? Anyone here interested?

without more info hard to tell. Stumpy's are up near the top of Specialised range so make very decent bikes - assuming of course its not a restickered something else.
