stumpjumper... what year is this bike?

here is a pick of my stumpy in mint condition. still has the hairs on the original ground control tyres and the protective stickers on the deore thumbies.
my guess is its probably done about 8 miles since new.


so, im wondering if anyone knows the exact year it was made? im thinking around 90 - 92 but want to know for sure.

1990 or before . 1991 and 1992 had a different paint job .

Deore II groupset and no U-brake, what speed is it ? 18 or 21 ?

its an 18 speed i think, the bike is not here with me so not 100%. it does have the biopace chainrings though

looks like HG sprockets and I think Deore was 7sp by then.

Guess 89 - my 88 rockhopper had understay u-brakes, so guess a touch later.

i know for a fact thats 89'.
i wanted that bike soooo bad! the next model up, the stumpy comp i think, was black with the same deore II groupset, but had a prestige frame. so yours should have a specialized double butted cro mo frame i reckon.
