Stuart Sinclair "Cadburys" 731OS

ha! was at the top end of what I wanted to pay for it tbh. Wild how much some of the NOS ones go for. Def do it! let me know how you get on.

If it goes okay I'll post on one of my threads as it'll go on one of my bikes. But I've never tried it before and it has a pretty fair sized chunk missing on one corner, so it's going to involve some epoxy putty. It could well go a bit pear-shaped, we'll see 🤔. It's an unusual 'Velo' branded perforated saddle with Titanium rails - very similar to a Flite but actually weighing less at 215g, so it would be nice to be able to use it.

Could just smooth it out and do the same to the other corner? so at least its visually equal? This guys video was pretty good -
- hes got a couple others too which are worth a watch

Yeah, that's the idea. With it being perforated, there's definitely a risk it will not look good when done, but I guess there's only one way to find out...

The saddle refurbs in his videos are impressive - slightly above the lengths I would ever go to, though (or be capable of!).

I hear you on the perforated, although it might make it easier to see how much tension you're putting into the fabric. I'm excited to give it a go and I'll try get some in progress shots for the thread if its helpful

Ah, well, I'm not actually re-covering my saddle, although thinking more about it, I could try that route. I was thinking of filling in the missing bits on the corners with putty, and getting rid of scuffs with some leather restorer (after sanding back the putty, of course). Re-covering would look, better, though, definitely. I'll weigh up the options. As a slightly ham-fisted person the idea of working with glue and leather gives me pause for thought 😆

There are quite a few threads on here about saddle restoration, but most of them are pretty old and now have missing images - plus they don't really cover the whole process, so I think it would definitely be useful to see it done...

Might be ya lucky day :) The perforated saddle I won on ebay arrived today and to be honest with you, its going to be a mare replacing the rails with the titanium ones. Would you be up for buying it for what I paid ? I'll cover the post to you.

Its a bit heavier than I imagined so I think I'm just gonna go down the route of buying some padding and fabric and recover the Carbon flite I have. Its cracked but should be able to repair it myself - was quoted £180 plus vat to get it done properly lol.

Thanks for the offer – it's a bit more than I wanted to pay (hence you winning!) – but also, I'll see how I get on with restoring the saddle I have instead, now.
