Stripping paint?

I'm seriously considering stripping my bike and having it powder coated what's the best method for removing the original paint which i believe is powder coating on aluminium?

cost really isn't an issue as long as it isn't too extreme and i'm having it coated in metallic gun metal grey including lacquer for £30. i dont even mind doing it myself with nitromors if that'll work

The powdercoaters will strip it for you I'm sure. Much better as they'll acid dip and beadblast it.

i asked them and they said their facilities aren't equipped to strip paint of thin aluminium tubing they just do gates etc. he mentioned vapour blasting and i think he said soda blasting but i might be wrong there. i dont really want to have it shot blasted so it comes back like a tea bag :?

If cost isn't an issue you are way better off getting it blasted. Paint stripper is really merry and time consuming. Its a right pain getting into all the nooks and crannies and welds etc. Then there's the risk of leaving some residue behind and messing up the new powder. I'd definately go for blasting

I wouldn't be too sure about handing my frame over to someone who does gates etc. I speak from experience, don't leave it with an industrial coaters cos that's the finish you'll end up with err... industrial.
Have a look at LSN coatings in Castleford, they did a top job for me for about the same money.
That was my third try at getting the same frame coated, the first company who shall remain nameless ( also in Caslteford ) did it the wrong colour the first time and blew holes in it on second attempt, after a load of hassle got my money back and went to LSN.

someone who works for lsn lives somewhere near me i see their van every morning maybe he can call for it on his way :D
