We had The Gay Dog over towards Defford. It's now called 'The Dog'. Homophobic brewery? Hmmm...

Back in my home city there's a 'Cockwell Inn'.

Mostly round here it's traditional like 'Three Kings', 'Red Lion' and 'Nags Head'. Seems like it's the big Pubco's who rename pubs something bizarre to add a little interest to revamped pubs which are usually dull and full of fizzy lagers.
