Stolen Gt Zaskar-Kettering Northants-Seen in Cash Converters

NIJE

Retro Newbie
I saw a GT Zaskar with polished frame and full XTR's with loads of Anodized bits like the wheels etc etc... At the time I had no idea about bikes (motorbikes yes but not cycles) and asked them to reserve it for me. I was gone for about an hour or so to get an idea of its value before buying it.
Unfortunately I had not put a deposit on it and they messed me about saying that someone else had been in and paid for it in full!
I was really p*ssed off because it was probably a Team Zaskar model and in virtually mint condition. The only thing I'm glad about now, having found a Zaskar recently, is that the other was obviously stolen! Cash Converters were selling it for £95!!! This was in 2002/2003 approx. and that meant they purchased it, from what must have been the thief, for about £40!! It was probably worth over a grand.

Did it have tyres with coloured sidewalls or blingy rims by any chance?

I had the pleasure of working at Cash Converters in Cambridge for about 4 years.

We'd pretend to have a problem with the computer system while we also called the police. We managed to get at least 8 expensive bikes back to the police and a couple of scrotes nicked.

Yes the wheels looked like they were anodised or similar and very flashy (looked very expensive) and yes I think the tyres were like that too. It was a few years ago though! ;)
