a same era merlin xlm sold on ebay UK for £721 a few weeks back.

And I sold an XLM for £1000 earlier in the year (it was as near as dammit NOS though).
American made Ti frame for £400 is going to take some patience and good luck.
You should get a Taiwanese sourced Ti frame for your budget, but as good as they are, they not in the same league as a Merlin or Litespeed.
If Scants is a double butted Vandermark XLM and it's your size, up the budget and buy it....beautiful frame

its got a 1 1/8 headtube, if it had a 1inch headtube I'd keep it.

You just don't Ti frames of this quality anymore (in my humble opinion)....simply stunning.

I got a Bonty Ti from the states a while ago for not much over £400, but by the time it got here with tax and shipping it was nearly double that! I managed to avoid paying the tax somehow as they delivered it before invoicing me. ''

anything imported into the UK gets taxed & normally an admin fee added to. do a search, its been discussed at length before.
