For the fork gurus herein...

Has anyone ever removed and replaced the steerer tube on a RockShok fork? I'm intereste in installing a longer one- 1 1/8th threadless. Need it to be 215 - 220 mm long.

Thoughts/comments? Thanks.

Yes, but I had someone with the appropriate engineering skills and equipment. It was done on a set of judys if that helps.

press fit

I used to have a Mag 21 that had a press fit steerer tube. Slight interference fit is what held it in place. RS had no problem in the early 90s talking about pressing them in and out. Layers have stopped that discussion. Maybe the addition of a locking agent on the subsequent versions. A little quick heat on the crown and pressure to he steerer would remove them easily. Installed with a cooling of the steerer (shrinking of the OD) and heating of the crown (increasing of the ID).

Find another fork

Given the local of where your doing the work,do you really want to stress that area :?
Thats serious faceplant territory :?

I'd be inclined to agree, for all the hassle and expense of somehow replacing the steerer it might be simpler and safer to sell the fork you have and buy one with a suitable steerer.
Judy XC's are failry easy to get a hold of.
