Dug my old C16R frame out of my mum's garage at the weekend. It was retired back in 2000 due to a "slight nick" in the down tube :D

I'm considering getting it repaired and building it up again. Anyone recommend someone to whack in a new downtube?

Any framebuilder, or Argos I think can do it.

But given the paint condition, you will need to factor in a respray and new decals, is it going to be worthwhile? All in that would be £150-200 Im guessing, cheaper to buy a frame if you can get one (via a wanted ad, shouldnt be too hard I reckon).

dave yates charges £100 for down tube replacement, then you will need a respray,so you are looking at over £200, would be cheeper to buy a new one :D

What's the line near the bottom of the seattube? Another crack or just mud?

Just mud...probably a bit of rust in there too!

It's in pretty rough shape so i'm expecting to pay for a respray and decals too. Could just get another frame but i've already got six bikes and have a bit of a soft spot as the C16r as it was my first proper frame bitd. Might just sink some cash into it for sentimentality :D
