A statement issued by WiggleCRC;

"The Joint Administrators of WiggleCRC are directing a shift in the group’s business model which will see it focus its efforts solely on the UK market. The announcement comes as a process to sell the business gathers pace amidst ongoing talks with multiple parties.

Alastair Massey and Tony Wright of specialist business advisory firm FRP were appointed to Mapil Midco 1 Limited and Wiggle Limited on 24 October 2023. Insolvency practitioners from FRP have also been appointed as Joint Administrators to Chain Reaction Cycles Limited, Chain Reaction Cycles Retail Limited and Hotlines Europe Limited.

To ensure that WiggleCRC is in the best possible position to build on its core strengths and market leading position, the decision has been taken to pivot the business model to solely focus on the UK domestic market which currently accounts for 85% of the group’s revenues. The international Wiggle and Chain Reaction web shops will therefore be closed over the coming weeks.

This part of the business has been impacted by a range of economic factors including rising international air freight costs and Brexit. The business is committed to honoring all outstanding sales, returns and warranty obligations for international customers through the usual processes.

Tony Wright, Partner at FRP and Joint Administrator of WiggleCRC, said: “The UK market is core to WiggleCRC’s proposition where it remains the market leader and is a powerful driver for the business’ profitability and current trading performance. This has been incredibly attractive to interested parties and we are progressing swiftly with the sale process.”—WiggleCRC

If that proportion of sales is correct, it makes sense to retrench and focus on UK. I remember reading something about why US start ups often take a long time to launch in other countries, because even in somewhere like Canada the currency, cultural, tax, fulfilment etc differences mean the ROI case is hard to make.

What happens with Chain reaction. The page have change a lot and prices are not competitive.

If you compare with other e-shops the prices are bad, now you can not seach by discount etc . Lot of changes and no one are good.

EDIT: I have read that chainreaction will close? Amazing. this year has to be a nightmare for them, but 2 years back it was the king of sales. I don´t understand why they have made that changes.

Now All tricks, R2 bikeshop, bike components, deporvillage, bike24, endurobikes etc are my shops. I have been searching for some components and only Hope disc rotors have a good price in Chain reaction but the rest was expensive. I´m not into the bicycle market but Chain was one day my main shop.

I didn´t realize that wiggle was Chain reaction brother. I always visit only Chain reaction and after the pandemic and brexit they did well with prices, they didn´t charge extra, they have a continental warehouse etc I thought they were doing well, prices were not crazy but good enought.

I have read the statement issued by WiggleCRC.

The more I read about they bicycle industry the less I like it. I´m a rider and for me this is for fun. So I will read the less posible and ride as much as I can.

Do Bike24 even still ship to the Uk at all?

Bought tyres a year or so ago and did start to notice then items they wouldn’t ship to the Uk.

Now you cannot select GB or Uk as a region at all.

In part through the ultimate move away from intermediaries and LBS’s…

“The launch of the Canyon app in 2023 marked the evolution of the direct-to-consumer model. The app features bike service information, shopping options and stories, plus a Bike Garage where riders find all compatible spare parts and exploded drawings for their Canyon bike(s”
