i currently wish i hadn't restocked some bikes as Orange have basically just undercut me, luckily i only have 7 bikes in stock and they are less expensive, as in not full suspension, i can match the prices if i choose to make no money. thinking this might be the last time i stock bikes, was having the same conversation with another shop owner in regards to him stocking Orro bikes, they have kippered him right up, they sent him bikes about 2 weeks ago even though he told them not to as the ones he had in stock had not sold, then they do massive deals which has devalued the stock they sent him a few weeks earlier, they said pay for them when you sell them but that's now not gonna happen because of the black friday discounts they are doing, but they'll chase the money from him, i told him if they are still boxed to send them back, or better have them collect them based on the fact that he told them not to send them.

A good ex-industry friend of mine was bankrupted by a large cycle distributor a couple years ago by basically that exact scenario.

Yeah, as I mentioned via PM, I’d seen some of their crazy deals on the website. Full bike for less than the frame usually costs! Can’t make it easy for you.

@minor_LEGEND @brocklanders023 i should be ok, it's 7 bikes, and the ones i have are the ones they haven't ripped the arse out of, the RX9 i have is at £1700 from £2200, and they haven't got any, i have the speedwork at £1300 from £1700 and i can hit their discounted price but make very little or nothing, i have 4 hardtails and my prices are near what they have listed so it shouldn't be too bad, but it's sort of irrelevant as no one is walking in asking about bikes anyway!

either way, currently there is enough money in the bank to pay the rent/vat/electric etc for about 7 months even if i took no money for 6 months so i'll be fine over the winter, then spring/summer will come and trade will get naturally busier as normal.

but basically the plan is to try not to buy much stock, sell as much as possible, clear the bikes out as much as possible, essentially business as usual in the winter months.

Does your bike shop have a website? I bet plenty of people on retrobike would buy from you.

@Takingabreak yes i have a website, it sucks right now, it's just being redone, but it's basically a "this is who i am. this is where i am and this is how you can contact me" and that's it. i was never trying to make it a e-commerce site, impossible to compete with the big online guyswho only compete on the race to the bottom price wise (look where it's got wiggle etc) so i don't try.

my intention is to have a retro meet at the shop again next summer
