As an aside, aside, main dealer 'technicians' are just parts fitters. Show one a broken wire and they run screaming into the street.

Aside...

Working in the bicycle trade, the 'engineers' were the only people who I asked what trade / company they were in so I could avoid them at all costs.

Brand new XTR cranks and Pedals - you've put them in the wrong way round! 'yes, thought they were a bit stiff!'

For the record, it's not that they "suddenly" found a pile of debt. They had loans, but also the promise from the parent company of a 150m credit line. So the accounts were "matched". The parent company backtracked in the last minute and then the black hole was opened...
Exactly this.

Hahaha on the engineers one. I have an engineering degree and got out of the design office as fast as I could after one summer as a student - the most stressful job ever as I wasn't nearly autistic enough. Most lack the social skills to interact more smoothly.

But if you think engineers are bad, try surgeons. IN both cases you need a certain lack of self-doubt.

but would you want to open someone up and reconfigure their innards if you didn't truly believe in yourself? That's the terrible dichotomy.
Surgeons may not actually be deities, but they certainly consider themselves to be their principal advisors!

just heard via the bike trade grapevine that wiggle has laid off 150 people.

hope they find work, but in this environment it's gonna be hard, especially if they are actual bike people looking for shop jobs as opposed to computer/website/warehouse staff which should find it a little easier because it's less specific
