Start selling the nice stuff - You know who you are !

Given the predicament we are all in right now, it's about time the guys that are hoarding the really nice stuff start selling it at a reasonable price so us appreciatives can experience a quality bike.

I've seen so much guff for sale in the last couple of weeks from seasoned forum members it is almost laugable.

Part with your decent stuff and give more of us a chance to appreciate the good stuff.

Prices are going only one way and that is seriously down from here. A severe correction is coming and tbh, it's long overdue.

The Mrs who is to be obeyed will not stand for the levels of spondoolics we have parted with in the past.

Hopefully, this will lead to a severe correction in the quite ridiculous asking prices of desirable post 98 MTBs.

Historyman take note:

You're one of the more frugal ones on here with nice stuff, at least you barter with very reasonable prices .

Don't let the Mrs in your cavernous emporium. :D

This will at least get people chomping at the bit :D :!:

Post 98 bikes are literally the cheapest ones to buy. The retro stuff pre 97 all fetch good money with some of the rarer stuff being nearly as expensive as brand new top of the range items.

98 -2015 stuff is almost worthless compared to what it will have cost new so I really don’t understand your point. Rule of thumb for me is usually 50% lost in first year and a further 10% each year up until 4 years old. How much cheaper would you like it?

As for people selling stuff at reasonable prices. Well the market dictates that for any item and good luck to folk if stuff is worth good money. If stuff I have became worth nothing overnight then I’ll just keep it and still upgrade to a new bike when funds allow. It’s only pushbikes and money we might all be dead in a months time. If you want a bike get it bought.

In terms of a price correction coming ..... well if you are so sure then simply wait until that happens and buy all the stuff you can’t afford now and problem solved. In reality there is going to be no price correction as old pushbikes are for the most a hobby and not tied to any form of investment.

I’d actually understand your rant if it was aimed at pre 97 stuff. I wouldn’t agree but I’d get it. But if you think 98+ bikes are expensive then you are in nevernever land.

The reason I like old pushbikes is the value and nostalgia. It’s a cheap hobby relative to others , and one anybody can dabble with. The cost of a takeaway can buy you a lovely bike. Try doing the same with their hobbies like cars , motorbikes , watches etc.

Re:

Is the OP for real? Predicament? Correction?

Did I miss a Retrobike special report on the Bloomberg channel?

Re:

I always try and sell items at what I believe are reasonable prices, I'm sorry if they're not enough of a bargain for you.

Are there any parts in particular you're looking for? Maybe try posting an ad in the "Wanted" section.

As for me, my ‘nice stuff’ was recently stolen attached to two very nice bikes, along with my motorcycle.

I assumed that the OP was an act of satire.
Yes. I thought it was tongue-in-cheek. As it is, having browsed eBay this morning, it looks like prices are going up. Supply is down, demand is up.
