I`m getting mixed messages on this one................

At what position along the top tube on modern MTB`s is the standover height measured ?

Cheers

From the ground! ;)

... to where your nuts hang - The idea is not to crush them on the top bar when you crash, so anywhere on the topbar where you could be standing

nah, got to be the natural position when you just stand and straddle the toptube. That's where I would always count stand-over height.

Best to ask the manufacturer, they'll all vary ;)

they vary loads, i always go off:

straddle the bike, feet to the floor, then see if theres 2'' or so room between top tube and nuts.......

as i get older, this gap decreases

Personally I measure stand over from a vertical line down from the nose of the saddle, as when you stand over the bike the most likely place you'll be standing

All manufacturers measure it at different points on the top tube, some use the centre of the top tube & some use the lowest point on the top tube, just so they can claim a lower stand over even if you can't actually stand over the bike there!
