Sram Compatibility Question - help please

Trying to set-up a bike at the mo. It has X0 9spd (gripshift) shifters, Sram 9spd cassette and a Sram X0 (10spd) rear mech.

Is the 10spd mech compatible with the rest of the set-up as I can't get the shifting right; it jumps a cog going up and coming down?

You need a Sram 9 speed rear mech.

Because Sram 10 speed is 'Exact Actuation' technology.
While Sram 8/9 speed is '1:1 Actuation'.

They are based on the same principle, of pulling the cable and the derailleur the same amount - know as 1;1.
But they pull a different amount of cable, because of the tighter cog spacing with the 10 speed stuff.

also i believe 10 speed chain is narrower than 9 speed so it may not sit on the jockey wheels correctly.

Yes it is narrower but 10 spd runs without issues on 9 spd gear systems ... in fact some people use 11 spf.... i ve not tried that yet.
