This was a ratty Bandwagon that I found for sale mistakenly advertised as a DMR. I knew it wasn't though which was obvious.
£20 later and it was mine although it was in a real sorry state. I could see it could become and nice frame with a bit of work.
The brake bosses had been removed, a crude rear disc mount had been poorly added plus some kind of tensioner mount thing welded under the bottom bracket shell. Some of the cable guides were also damaged after being poorly modified for brake hoses. I was determined to save this one somehow.
The paint was a nightmare to remove, around six layers worth of the most stubborn stuff but got there in the end after a mix of scraping and chemical stripping.
The metalwork was pretty satisfying to do and it was quickly starting to look like a decent frame as the damage was removed one bit at a time. Some obvious scars still remain on the rear dropout where the disc mount was but it come up really nice considering how it looked previous.
Decided to remove all of the cable guides for a smoothed finish throughout. Didn't go too crazy with the polishing as I do plan to have it powdered at some point. That will help mask some of the scars too.
Just need to sort a disc mount first and foremost utilising the existing mount area. Will decide on paint and decals once I know I can stop it, but some bright, possibly metal flakey sparkly finish in either pink or green is what I have in mind. Have thoughts on painting bars, forks and some other bits at the same time for an overall colourway scheme. I already have a pair of Identity 1420 forks perfect for this. It will be designed as a single speed with a tensioner to keep things nice and simple.
