Spinergy Carbon REV

Retro Newbie
Hi everyone
This is my first post and want to share several questions.
I'm updating my recently bought Xizang '94, and don't know what wheels to put.
As I want a very useable bike (more than a very original one), I'm thinking about mounting a set of Crossmax XL - V brake, and tubeless tires.
But there's the chance yo buy a mint set of Spinergy Carbon REV - X (the ones with 4 double spokes) and have several questions
- which one is better for an everyday rally use (no jumps, no enduro, no downhill) with a fatty biker? ;)
- a friend says Spinergy are TOO heavy, and suitable only for very quiet rides? True? Resistant enough?
- Spins can't use tubeless, can they?
- Which ones would you mount?
Thanks in advance.

Spinergy look better but they can just explode.

Crossmax are safer and stronger.

As far as I know tubeless isn't an option on Spinergy.

"This one is a little hard to see, but what you are seeing is the remains of a Spinergy Rev-X wheel. Only one bladed carbon spoke and a small segment of the rim remains."

Spins are fine, the carbon bladed spinergy ones are the ones that have been reported to explode. No experience myself of the wheels myself though.

If you are a fatty - forget Crossmaxes. I can flex them with my mere 75kgs.

And forget Spinergys as even if the spokes don't explode, the axles are just too wimpy.

Spins were always pointless.

If fatty means over 100kgs - there is only one way to go. Mavic DH specific rims as 36H on proper hubs. Anything else and you are just asking for trouble.

Unless of course it's wall-art. And IMHO Spinergys and Spins don't qualify fot that either.
