Great thread. I test road one of those back in 89 when I was shopping for my very first mountain bike and these new fangled hybrids were coming out. I tested it at WestPoint Cycle in Vancouver. Back then it didn't look so completely dumb an idea as Jacquie Phelan road drops on her mountain bike BITD. I think it attracted me because I was riding a Noro Monterrey SL, could only afford one bike and wanted one that could do everything. I wasn't impressed with its off road capabilities so ended up buying a rocky mountain fusion. Couple of years ago was looking for an old mountain bike to build into a drop bar tourer and though of this bike - couldn't remember the name.
If I found one cheap locally I'd probably take a punt on it. Glad you enjoy them.
