Hi,

I have just picked up a Specialized Hardrock 1987 in very good - for a 26 year old bike - original condition apart from a few minor marks.

It has the rear brake on the seat tube next to the crank? Is this normal - seems to work well even though there are bosses in the "normal" place & am wondering why they weren't fitted there.

TBH - I haven't a clue why I bought it! I am a long time lurker on this site and love looking at the pictures and appreciate the beauty of a lot of the bikes.

I wish I was mechanically adept but my level of skill amounts to repairing a puncture and at a push replacing a cable!

Does anyone know how much it might be worth as I am not certain I should be keeping it if I'm not going to be riding it - I'm a bit scared of doing it any harm - which isn't really why I own bikes! Although my CR1 Pro ONLY ventures out in the bone dry.

Sorry that I have a few questions as my first post and thanks to anyone who can help me out with any of the questions I have.

Would upload some pics but not entirely sure how so will look into that

Cheers

That's cool! It's an 1988 not 87 though. The decals are different on the 87. Yours looks in great condition - good find!

Thanks for letting me know - expect I would have got a load of abuse if I had listed it as a '87 on Ebay!

Like I said, not entirely sure why I bought it as already have 3 bikes that I use and limited space and not got a clue what it's worth but was told it was completely original.

Oh well :)

The bosses in the normal place are for a rack, not brakes.
