Specialized fatboys not cutting the mustard - alternatives

My Specialized ‘fatboys’ look good and ride fast on my ’89 Rockhopper but two punctures in as many miles means they are coming off and the Panaracer off roaders (used all winter - no punctures) are going back on.

Can anyone suggest a slick alternative that can handle the flint strewn cycle path to and from work better? Thanks.

I used Conti trafic 1.9 cheep at £12 BUT only wire bead so very heavy. I had no punctures :)

Specialized Nimbus Armadillos, 26x1.5" I used to ride these on my comuter kona Nunu before I bought my Langster. Good all condition road tyre for mountain bike rims.

I run Panaracer Pasela TG on my hack, no punctures in about 8 months of riding almost every day (cursed myself now).

Good results with my Bonny Road Warrior and I was thinking about trying some Fatboys, as I'm only using the Marin for CT stuff -wanna trial swap for a couple of weeks? I'd go halfies on the postage.

I use Bontrager XR1 team issue 26x2.0. Small amount of tread for the slighly lumpy bits but very fast rolling. I'm planning to 'ghetto-tubeless' them as well so should eliminate flats completely.
