Specialized BX23 Rims

Noticed that 'justkev' has got these on his fantastic Yeti C-26.

I've got a pair, and a GX23....

I just thought these were boggo rims, nothing fancy, just do the job.

But, if they are good enough for a Yeti, are they actually something special, or were they favoured over the Mavics of that era? :?

oe on my spesh stumpy comp.........i have them built onto period xt hubs with wheelsmith db spokes and i love 'em......not particularly special but they get the job done.....

afaik the specialized rims were produced in japan (by araya?). the bx23 was the rim for the "mid-end" of the specialized mtb lineup in around 1990. the high-end mtbs (epic, epic ultimate) were equiped with other rims (e.g. bxl21).
