Specialized 1997 Stumpjumper M2 Comp

This is an upgraded build with original and unrestored parts of a Black Eye.

It doesn’t quite match the catalog specifications but keeps the magic look of the 97’ Stumpjumper. All black and dark gray.

First ride by August 2024

This build is somehow special to me as I used to race a 1993 Stumpjumper M2 Comp, the same frame.

Hope you enjoy,
Al (Alexandre)

Very nice build! I am wanting size 17” M2 as I am 5’9” and my 1998 M2 is a 19” frame so it’s too big for me to be really comfortable on trails. It’s been hanging in my shop not used for 18 to 19 years and before that I used it as a big city bike from 2002 to 2005 when I moved to a small rural town. But I just aired the tires up and did a quick once over and I took it for a spin the other day. I have a new bike repair stand ordered and I plan to change to some off road tires, grease/oil cables and bearings, change out the handle bars, clean up or replace any of the rusty bolts and just make do until I can find a smaller M2 frame size here in the US.

I’m 5’9” too and this bike fits nicely.
