spec me a bike please!

just buildin up a bike its primarily a road bike with a few footpaths along the way! its a 20.5 inch frame and i was wanting to spec it up a bit with some nice bits from around the late 90's era.
i am after a pair of forks first i think, what travel should i get as i dont want to ruin the geometry?
also what was all the bling back then?

What brand of frame is it? any pics? whats your budget?

ifit's for road and path, fit rigid forks. if you want to run suspension keep it to 80mm or less

from 97-99, the "cool" fork was a marzocchi bomber. the Z1 will be too long though

Has to be a Z2 Bam then its about 75mm
Or a judy at about 63mm :?

thanks for the replies! budget is as cheap as poss, the frame is an old fuji but i will be looking to upgrade that when i have got the money, the frame rides real well so i thought i would spec it up a bit until i can afford to replace it. quite like the idea of keeping it rigid, what were the cool rigid forks of the day?
