Some people just dont get it

Out on my rigid SS last winter, trail building an environmentally-friendly but illegal trail I stopped and watched a bunch of 8" full sussers with dinner-plate-discs grind through the legal-but-environmentally phukked official trail circuit 30 metres away. The riders were moaning about the state of the trails WHILST BALLSING THEM UP! I giggled to myself from the cover of the trees, packed up and buried my tools and rode off smiling. Idiots are there to entertain me. They don't get nature and they don't get retro. Poor buggers

Retro and Love it!!

I had the pleasure of going to a bike shop function where they were displaying many $3000.00 bikes with just about every feature you could think of. When I pulled up on my '94 KHS SS'r with a Halson Inverted fork, and asked the guy if he had any skewers for sale (because I needed one)-he said you dont need a new skewer, you need a new bike!
That's pretty much a quote. Off I rode, no new skewer, and a little snicker, You aint gettin me to spend $3000.00. Later he loaded up all his 29'er- 30 some speed bikes in his trailer, pulled out of the lot with his brand new VW suv, and ya know---that guy dont get it!! He does it for money. I'm in it for fun.

As I was puttin my bike on my car some 30 ish looking dude came over and said, I had a Halson like that 10 years ago, and I wish I still had it.
Retro baby...Retro..

I have a close friend that is a high tech fanatic.

He simple can´t accept the fact that sometimes I like to go for a ride on my old 1989 Caloi Cruiser, with single speed and coaster brake...

People from now are sometimes thinking: -V-brakes, can you ride with those? You really need discs to stop.
We rode downhills with cantilevers and no suspension :)
On the dutch mountainbike forum they think my GT LTS (1997) is old. :)
all their bikes are black, need to have SRAM, Schwalbe and discs.

I think my LBS loves working on my RTS.

Got a fantastic "Woah dude, thats sooo Old Skool cool" from them when I first took it in to them for a service.

Being a fairly old LBS, they have an understanding of all things Retro.

Sitting at the top of the Red route at Glentress whilst riders of modern hi-tech kit look at my bike, then me and then back at my bike.
Most think I'm quite mad, "your not going to ride that down there are you ?!".
There approach being to catch air on every jump and pile down the route whilst there suspension soaks up the trail, thats ther choice and good for them.
I keep my wheels in contact with the trail as much as possible unless I need to pre-jump an obstacle and revel in the technical difficulty !

I enjoy there reactions and the fact I can still ride the terrain that they think was only designed for a modern bike.
