If the seatpost is stuck ,then why is the binder still in use :?

Why not? I'll just lose it otherwise. It's just hanging there with no force, not doing the bike any harm

I was thinking that by not doing its job[ie binding] then all the riders weight and road shock goes into the unsupported seatpost and might jar it loose from its corrosion.
A bit like riding with the crank bolt removed to help free a stuck crank
Unlikely i know ,but might be worth a try :?

Come on people, even if you didn't want to build and took it off me just to sell the frame and forks separately on ebay you'd make a few bob.

Need to make room for a new retro arrival to the shed and would hate to see this bike go to waste...

Come on gents - take his advice ! Someone pick this thing up and flog me the forks for a tenner ! - if they a 1" and a min of 160 steerer

they are def 1" and should be over 160mm, there's basically a frame here which will pay you £5!
