SOLD Aende 531 SOLD
Selling on behalf of a friend who is no longer time trialling but still getting the miles in.
This was his tt machine built for him by the master frame maker Alan Braithwaite .
The story told to me is that Alan asked him to let him build my friend a frame .
So on the condition that it had a strengthened rear seat stay a build would go ahead. They knew each other well from the tt circuit .
This was in the early 1980's . It has no frame number as with some of AB frames .
I am told it one of AB 's early builds
It was ridden in tt's from 10 miles to 12 hrs .
The asking price is £400 .
The frame size is 23 1/2 .
Cinelli stem primo bars, Campag reord hubs , Campag flutted seat pin ,Brooks pro saddle . Suntour vx rear mech .Weinmann 500 brakes . Zeus c/s with different make lhs arm {same lenght}It comes with a spare Campagnolo pista chain set with a zeus cr. Zeus Pista pedals with t/c 's
May consider selling frame only for £240 . .This is a full on tt machine built for sprints wheels only . The chrome on the spokes has lost its shine . tubs all hold air .

Re:

I like this,

One of my Fave builders, certainly of the TT genre, and more importantly in my size...

Pm on the way.

Re: Aende 531 tt

Just got to love Aende frames - the "lightened" lugs are a treat!

Happy New Year, Paul!

Re:

Hi Dave,

I love Pongo's frames, especially the TT variety which most of them were.

I have two currently, an amazing piece of workmanship in incredibly rare Columbus KL tubing, likely an early 80's piece.
I also have one of the latter frames he built early 90's, curved top tube in 653.

Funny how he largely ignored the practice of adding numbering identification to his frames.

Hello Paul, it was lugless at head tube end, lugged at seat cluster and (AFAIR) at bottom bracket. Neat workmanship!

My miles are getting fewer - lot nearer 70 than 65 and COPD lung age much much older than rest of me! Meagre 3400 miles last year..

Pedal on, mate....

Re: Aende 531 tt

Touring frame looks lovely, appears to be quite a relaxed Head Tube Angle (for stability) so guessing that's why lugless was chosen as it gives greater freedom in this respect.

Since watching eBay over the last 10 years I have seen one Aende Mountain Bike and a couple of Tandems, both too small for me, sadly.

James.

Re: Aende 531 tt

That's a beautiful frame. I may be interested depending on the length of the top tube.

I will also be using the frame for summer road riding rather than time trials so need to some research on the strength those beautifully drilled drop outs.

I had one of his (few, I imagine) tourers. I only ever saw one of his mtbs!

There are two on here, one owned by me and one owned by paddy311. There's pictures of both on my thread. I might even finish building mine and ride it this year.
