So.....what sort of RB'er are you....??

I can only describe myself as a victim of retro bike.

I've alway had an interest, had the odd retro bike over the years, mostly built out of stuff I had from new or that friends still had in the shed. Then I find this website, one of the few bike related sites that isn't blocked by work...Days, no weeks of unfinished work, parts I acctually need on my modern bikes unbought because I've spent money on old tat that I like to look at and ride to work.

Better than doing work but somewhat more expensive.

Re:

I am a drifter :)

I love the place but it makes me 'itch' for something else and there is too much temptation on here ;)

Ahem, my name is Mark and I am an addict!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the first stage on the long road to recovery, admitting you have a 'problem' LGF you are not alone mate. It's an extreme niche form of hoarding I reckon

Everytime I look at the pile I have accumulated, I think wtf, you will never build them all up and ride them. I decide to list the bling, I remove it from its packaging...examine its beauty again and then...it's like...I can't do it....help

Re:

Been here since 2009 and still an avid visitor but not to the level I was.

Between 2009-12ish I was addicted to all things retrobike. I had a house full of bikes/parts and spent a good chuck of each day on here or on ebay (and any other sale site) looking for retro goodies. I even used to regularly drive round the second hand shops looking for potential. Some of my friends got involved and we used to go on rides with the sections and enjoy our shared interest.

These days my friends have stopped visiting and my interest isn't what it was. A big reason for this is meeting my fiancee (who for some reason didn't like bikes in the dining room, spare room, under the stairs and shed!) and having a son. I just don't have as much time anymore so find it difficult to finish builds leading to me loosing interest in them.

I also used to visit nearly every area of the site daily. To be honest the main sections I look at now are retro chat, 98 chat, ebay watch and for sale to a point (still searching for my silver/grey Clockwork Unicorn). I do look at members bikes but find I don't open many threads as I've seen most of them done to a very high standard in the past.

Still a great site though and one of a few I visit whenever I get the chance and have a bit of time free.

A frugal one.

I came here looking for a fix for my air-oil fork... Which I found. I keep coming back for the little technical tid-bits and the beautiful machines folks on here resurrect and maintain.

I'm the kind of person who'd rather rebuild a freehub body than pay to replace it. What I can't do myself to a bike is a short list. Spent the weekend latheing new circlip grooves in a blown out Magura Asgard... Because I'm too cheap to throw'em out.
