Smoke 'n Smoke or Smoke 'n Dart?

For those that want to be period specific, IIRC the smoke was released first in '90, then the dart in '92, so any bike between '90 and '92 would have smoke front and rear.

I would also like to add that the black wall Smokes were really popular in the early 90s, which is why I snicker when people insist on skin walls for their retro builds.

Every Smoke I bought in the early 90's was a skin wall/tan wall, I don't remember seeing anything but tan walls

Re:

Smoke/Smoke for me. I find the Darts to be a bit modern

I had tan walls too. I am thinking the black walls came out in 93ish?

Re:

I always ran Smokes front and back. Tried it, it worked, job done. They were always skinwalls on my bikes. Didn't know they did blackwall jobbies. Wish I could still get them at reasonable cost. :(
But for wet grass, you can't beat a nice Spike up front!

Was it a US thing?

Yeah, I always assumed the Blackwall version came out later in production, at the time I was buying and riding on Smoke/Dart skin/tanwall that's all I ever saw, by the time I did see the blackwall version there were other/newer/better tyre options out there, so I never bought any blackwall Smoke/Dart tyres.
I don't recall them being called tanwall or skinwall either, they were just tyres! When they started producing the all black tyres then they did call them "blackwall" or something along those lines.
