Singlespeed ratio's, any advice

I think everyone means 1:2 ratio. A 2:1 ratio is two turn of the crank to one turn of the wheel!

I guess so....

I run the 1:2 or 2:1 or whatever it is on mine. I had a 38t so I picked up a 19t Gusset singlespeed sprocket. It has a nice wide base so it doesn't cut into the hub.

Depends on what terrain you'll mainly ride on. 2:1 is the classic ratio but how much or little spinning your prepared to do and as I say the terrain will dictate. I favour 1.75:1 (28T:16T) as I only ride SS offroad on quite hilly terrain and I'm a wimp

Is it carved in stone that the larger number in the ratio format refers to the crank, I think not. I always think 2 turns of the wheel : 1 turn of the crank !

Let us not impose rules upon something as fun and fundamentally silly as SS MTB

Even if it is carved in stone that the larger number refers to the crank; is it carved in stone that the ratio refers to revolutions and not the number of teeth.

After running 34 T-16 Iv'e settled on 34 T-18, I find for me ,it is a great all round set up ,good luck and enjoy
