Quick question. What size of gearing are you using either in inches or sprockets?

Usual gear inches for most people SSing is 52" ie 32/16, 34/18. I use 39/19 - a tadge over at 53" (flat round here) but lots of chain wrap and a lovely smooth drivetrain.

I'm totally ignorant but the advice I'm repeatedly getting for my 'Project X' is 32/16

I run 38:13 with slicks- Feel like a big girls blouse now (mind you there are a few big hills round our way )

Everyone gives different advice on what gear to use. i was told everything from 50in to 70 in depending on who i asked. My advice would be to ride an "average" ride on your normal geared bike, and work out which gear enables you to get up all the hills you want, and doent spin out to easy. Then base your choice on that
